NFL PICK SIX (Week of 11/23/07)

November 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

By Ron Borges

Here we go again. After a Thursday of turkey eating in which my picks were 3-0 we take a wee look at the weekend’s fare. Unfortunately, none of my three picks – Dallas, Green Bay and the Colts – were recorded here but you could have gotten them on 1-900-LOCK-UP.

Having likely missed those here’s this weekend’s Pick 6 selections.

LOCKADINI

1. Seattle – 3 @ ST. LOUIS – The rams are coming off a win over the 49ers. The oddsmakers must have thought they beat the 1987 49ers not this year’s crew of pointless prospectors. St. Louis won’t win two in a row and they won’t cover this spread. Lay the three points and take the RAMS.

NEARLY 50-50 CHANCE MEANS YOU LOSE THE VIG

2. ARIZONA vs. 49ers – See above. The Niners haven’t scored a TD in 11 quarters and last week hired former failed USC and San Diego State head coach Ted Tollner to look over the shoulder of offensive coordinator Jim Hostler. That should help. Trent Dilfer is at quarterback, which is about as much help as Tollner figures to be. Lay the 10 ½ and take the CARDS at home, who ha ve a chance to be above .500 ater Thanksgiving for the first time in a decade. Now that’s motivation.

3. Tennessee – 1 ½ @ CINCINNATI – The Titans have lost two straight and Vince Young is not playing well. Then again, he’s playing the Bengals, who are 3-7 for a reason. TENNESSEE is better so take them and give the points to the Bengals.

THIS IS WHY THEY CALL IT GAMBLING

4. CLEVELAND – 3 ½ vs. Houston – It is difficult to type these words but the Browns are back. Not the Browns of Otto Graham. Not even the Browns of Jim Brown. But good enough Browns to think they could be 7-4 after this game so take CLEVELAND at home unless you really believe the Texans are as good as the Saints made them look last weekend.

5. PITTSBURGH – 16 vs. Miami – Somebody has to pay for what the Steelers allowed the Jets to do to them last week. Who better than the Dolphins, who are worse than the Jets if that’s possible. Monday Night at Heinz Field sounds like a massacre in the making. Take the STEELERS even though it’s a big number.

UPSET SPECIAL

6. Washington + 3 @ TAMPA BAY – The Redskins are actually playing better than a team that’s lost four of its last six might seem to be. That’s because three of those losses came to teams who are a combined 30-2 – New England, Dallas and Green Bay. If someone can shut off Joe Gibbs head set (where’s Bill Belichick and Ernie Adams when you need them?) maybe the ‘Skins will hand Clinton Portis the ball enough times to pound out a win over a Bucs team that’s the lamest 6-4 in NFL history.

Last week: 1-5.

Year to date: 6-12.

Lockadini: 2-1.

Upset special: 1-2.
